Natalie was raped at the age of seventeen. A few years later she received her diagnosis: HIV positive. Her tormentor had infected her.
“Would anyone ever come close to me again let alone touch me? I was so weak that I was unable to move. I could only lie there without being able to perceive what was going on, then I lost the strength to speak and was hardly able to breathe. I was skin and bones, and each day it was uncertain if I would live or die.”
The whole story and about 80 other portraits will appear in the book “People Like Us“.
