Steve jumped out of the plane several thousand times. He chased after adventures and sought the adrenaline rush. Skydiving then Base Jumping – the lower the height, the bigger the kick. An extreme sport that almost cost him his life.
“The addiction took hold of me. I jumped off a 200-metre high bridge and flew through a gorge. I grazed a tree and crashed, utterly twisting my leg and smashing my foot to bits. The doctors tried to save my leg and reconstruct my foot with all means but to no avail. These days I walk around like a pirate on one wooden leg. I kind of like this role.”
The whole story and about 80 other portraits will appear in the book “People Like Us“.
